Best NEAR Futures Exchanges for Longs and Shorts
The sale is only half of a NEAR short. The cost and quantity of the closing purchase can change which venue fits the position.
Short answer
Binance is a strong USDT choice for a NEAR order around 10,000–50,000. Hyperliquid was competitive at the smaller size for an existing USDC balance and up to 10×. For a short held open, positive funding can help, but the earlier payment history is not a promise about the next payment.

A stronger centralized baseline across sizes
For a USDT short that needs complete recorded buyback comparisons across sizes. Whole-NEAR steps can leave a small remainder when matching a fractional holding.
NEARUSDT · USDT settlementVisit BinanceA relevant USDC option for smaller shorts
For smaller USDC shorts at 10× or less. Its historical funding credited shorts, but the large-order exit estimate is incomplete.
NEAR · USDC settlementVisit HyperliquidFiner quantity steps and a documented higher-leverage band
For fractional quantity control: its 0.1-NEAR step is finer than Binance’s. The 75× headline ends at the first 10,000-USDT band.
NEARUSDT · USDT settlementVisit BybitNEAR shorts: choose the account for the eventual buyback
The order that closes a NEAR short is a purchase. If NEAR rises, buying back the original token quantity requires more USDT than the opening sale brought in. The ask-side book at that larger exit value therefore matters more than a cheap opening sale alone.
Binance NEARUSDT supplies the stronger recorded centralized baseline across the compared sizes. Hyperliquid’s smaller USDC orders were competitive at up to 10×, and its historical positive funding favored shorts. That combination is useful for a bearish position, but it cannot price a larger buyback missing from the returned depth.
Why OKX and Bybit still belong in the comparison
OKX’s 10,000 range overlaps the upper end of Binance’s. A trader with an eligible funded OKX account may have little reason to move solely for this difference. Its NEAR-USDT-SWAP uses ten NEAR per full contract and a 0.1-contract increment, so one quantity step corresponds to one NEAR.
Bybit offers finer 0.1-NEAR quantity steps and a first leverage band of 75× through 10,000 USDT. That makes it relevant when exact small-position sizing or an established account matters more than the lowest regular-fee estimate. Its captured sale side was noticeably more expensive than its purchase side in the final 25,000 round, which is especially pertinent to a short entry.

In the third research round, a 25,000-USDT sale into Binance’s bids cost approximately 19.50 in price impact plus taker commission. Buying the same quote value from its asks cost about 19.48. On Bybit the corresponding amounts were 28.10 to sell and 21.01 to buy. For a short, the higher Bybit amount is the entry component; for a long it is the exit component.
Hyperliquid’s same-round sale cost was 17.61 USDC and its purchase cost 19.74. It had the cheaper sale in this comparison, while Binance had a slightly cheaper purchase. Calling one “the cheapest NEAR exchange” without stating the order direction would obscure precisely the difference this table measures.

The closing purchase can matter more after an adverse move
Consider a short of 2,000 NEAR opened at an illustrative price of five USDT. The opening exposure is 10,000 USDT. If NEAR rises to six before the short is closed, buying back the same 2,000 coins requires 12,000 USDT of closing notional. That larger notional also determines the closing commission and the amount consumed from the ask side.
A comparison that permanently budgets only a 10,000 buyback understates the order needed after that rise. If the price instead falls to four, the same closing quantity is worth 8,000. The trader closes the number of coins still short, not a cash amount copied from the original ticket.

For a larger example, a short that begins at 25,000 can require a 30,000 buyback after a 20% price rise, assuming unchanged coin quantity. Our 25,000 row does not quote that larger exit. The 50,000 row provides context about the venue’s returned depth at another size, but interpolation between them would not produce an executable 30,000 quote.
How to avoid leaving a NEAR short partly open
Using the 2,000-NEAR example, a fixed 10,000-USDT purchase at six buys only about 1,666.7 NEAR before rounding. Approximately 333.3 NEAR remain short. At four, an unrestricted purchase of 10,000 buys 2,500 NEAR, potentially closing the short and creating a new 500-NEAR long in one-way mode.

An unrestricted 10,000-USDT buy covers 2,500 NEAR.500 NEAR could become a new long.A submitted closing order is not the same as a completed close
If an order covers 800 of the 2,000 NEAR, the remaining short is 1,200. It continues to change value and can remain subject to funding while open. The useful status is the filled coin quantity and remaining position, not whether a button was pressed or an order appears in history.
On Bybit, use the remaining NEAR quantity with its position-reducing order control. This addresses the quantity mismatch above; it cannot make a buyback fill at the original selling price.
On a fast NEAR rise, an unfilled take-profit buy below the market is not a replacement for a separate exit plan. A closing market order prioritizes execution but can cross more price levels than expected. A closing limit order controls the offered price but can leave quantity outstanding. The article’s buy-side evidence helps price that tradeoff without pretending to know the next market move.
NEAR funding can reverse the best choice for a long
Over October 4–6 UTC, a constant 10,000-USDT/USDC notional position accumulated positive funding of approximately 13.64 on Hyperliquid, 8.37 on Binance NEARUSDT, 8.46 on OKX and 7.41 on Bybit. A long paid those amounts; a short received them. Hyperliquid’s seventy-two hourly events were added over the same window as the nine events from the other named histories.
For a long, combining this historical funding with the later execution ranges gives a sensitivity total of 23.83–26.07 for Hyperliquid and 21.53–22.26 for Binance. The lower execution range does not win that combined scenario. For a short, the same historical funding is deducted from cost, so the comparison moves in Hyperliquid’s favor instead.
Do not mistake a cost offset for the trade’s profit
The short-side scenario can produce funding receipts larger than estimated entry-and-exit charges. That still says nothing about the NEAR price result. In the 2,000-coin example, a rise from five to six loses 2,000 USDT before costs, dwarfing the three-day funding amounts being compared.
Funding is also charged or credited against the applicable position value at each event. A fixed-10,000 model is a clean way to compare histories, but a real fixed-coin position changes notional as NEAR moves. Using the actual event values matters when reconciling a completed trade; multiplying a displayed rate by the initial margin balance does not reproduce the charge.
A short whose rationale is a specific NEAR catalyst should therefore have its own exit condition. Extending it simply because the last funding period paid shorts turns an event trade into a different bet. The historical comparison supports venue selection, not a promise that tomorrow’s rates will finance the position.
What changes if you enter NEAR with a maker order?
A limit order that rests can lower the entry commission, but it changes the execution assumption. Bybit’s regular derivatives schedule uses a 0.02% maker reference compared with 0.055% taker. On a 25,000 entry, that is 5.00 instead of 13.75 in commission: an 8.75 difference if the order actually receives maker treatment and fills.
That saving does not entitle the trader to subtract 8.75 from every market-order comparison and declare the strategy superior. The resting order can miss the desired entry, fill only partly, or execute just before the price moves against it. A limit order placed across the spread may receive taker treatment rather than the maker rate the trader expected.
A cheaper entry can leave the expensive side untouched
A NEAR short may open passively while its stop requires an urgent buyback. In that case, the closing ask-side depth remains important even if the entry commission was reduced. Comparing two maker fees while ignoring the eventual taker exit would favor the wrong feature for that strategy.
MEXC’s saved API reference is 0.06% maker and 0.08% taker. Separate notices for CIS and selected North American regions schedule 0.01% maker and 0.04% taker for selected NEAR users from 8 October 2026, 10:00 UTC. NEARUSDT, NEARUSDC and NEARUSD1 are named.
At the latter account schedule, a 10,000-USDT maker entry followed by an equal-value taker buyback incurs five USDT of commission; two taker fills incur eight. The cheaper entry is useful only if it fills. These scenarios replace commission, not the observed buyback impact or order ceiling, and the regional notice neither overrides the saved API schedule nor confirms account eligibility.
The most useful fee comparison follows the intended pair of actions: maker entry plus taker close, two taker actions, or two patient limit orders. Our main table deliberately models two taker actions. It gives a consistent baseline without assuming that a desirable maker fill is available on demand.
NEAR leverage brackets and quantity rules
Bybit NEARUSDT’s first risk band extends to 10,000 USDT at up to 75×; the next extends to 50,000 at up to 70×. Its single market-order quantity ceiling was 66,470 NEAR, approximately 332,184 USDT at the lowest captured midpoint. The position bracket and individual-order ceiling are separate controls, so that large order allowance does not imply 75× remains available for its whole value.
Hyperliquid’s native NEAR market permits one decimal place of coin quantity and an initial 10× maximum. That lower leverage limit may still satisfy the intended position, but it requires more starting margin for the same exposure than a higher permitted multiplier. The comparison should use the exposure the reader wants, not increase it merely because another venue offers a larger number.
Fine sizing can matter when closing part of a NEAR position
Binance NEARUSDT uses whole-NEAR order increments, whereas Bybit permits 0.1 NEAR. At an illustrative price of 5.20, a planned 100-USDT position is roughly 19.23 NEAR: nineteen whole coins are worth 98.80, while 19.2 NEAR are worth 99.84. This is a small monetary difference, but it explains why identical dollar input boxes may produce different coin quantities.
For a partial close, preserve the venue’s allowed step and the position’s actual remaining quantity. A spreadsheet target of 333.333 NEAR cannot necessarily be sent unchanged. Closing the final remainder can also be handled differently from opening a new tiny order; the published new-order minimum should not be treated as proof that dust must remain permanently open.
MEXC’s NEAR_USDT uses one NEAR per contract and publishes a 200× instrument maximum. Its NEAR_USDC variant publishes 125× but has a much smaller 1,200-contract maximum order volume, around 5,994 USDC at the captured price. Thus several larger USDC rows are book models above that observed one-order cap, not single orders a reader can place as shown.
Does holding NEAR provide margin for NEAR futures?
OKX’s public NEAR collateral schedule was recovered on October 7. For the first 20,000 NEAR, it reports a 90% discount rate; the next tranche, from 20,000 to 35,000, uses 84%. Those quantity tiers are NEAR tokens, not dollars. The dated response therefore supplies a concrete margin allowance instead of assuming the full wallet value can be used.
At an illustrative five dollars per NEAR, 1,000 eligible NEAR have a $5,000 market value but contribute $4,500 at the first-tier ratio. For 25,000 NEAR, the first 20,000 contribute the equivalent of 18,000 NEAR and the next 5,000 contribute 4,200: $111,000 of adjusted value at that price, versus $125,000 of market value. Applying 84% to the entire balance would give the wrong result.
The OKX documentation distinguishes total equity from the adjusted equity used for applicable margin calculations. That is the reason an apparent wallet value cannot be treated as spendable margin at face value. It is not evidence that every NEAR account receives the same collateral treatment.
This schedule applies to supported NEAR collateral in the relevant account mode. It does not establish acceptance of staked NEAR or a liquid-staking token. A NEAR-funded long also exposes the margin to a falling NEAR price; using stablecoin collateral separates that particular source of margin movement from the trade.
NEAR wallet trading beyond Hyperliquid
dYdX NEAR-USD is active in the October 7 catalog, with one-NEAR steps and a base 10% initial margin fraction. The public book snapshot contains bids and asks. It is an additional order-book candidate for a wallet trader, with its own account and size requirements.
GMX’s Arbitrum catalog also lists NEAR/USD backed by ETH/USDC. The underlying NEAR exposure and the pool’s backing assets are different fields: using that pool does not require a NEAR-native blockchain transfer. Its fee and available short capacity need a pool quote rather than the Hyperliquid cost row.
How broad is the NEAR exchange comparison?
The directory records eighteen contracts across fifteen venues, while the new execution research covers ten stablecoin-settled instruments. Binance, Bybit, OKX, MEXC, WEEX, Gate, Aster and Hyperliquid contribute measured products. Multiple products from one venue are kept distinct instead of inflating the count of exchanges.
Binance NEARUSDC, meanwhile, had a lower displayed taker percentage but cost 62.70–70.34 at 25,000 each way versus 37.19–38.98 for NEARUSDT. The directory preserves that USDC option without letting a promotional rate replace the actual book comparison. Access by country is covered in the geographic cluster, since a global instrument listing is not a customer eligibility decision.
18 contract records across 15 venues. Each instrument has its own record; a listing does not establish country eligibility. Quantity, increment and minimum value requirements apply together; an omitted value is not a zero minimum.

NEAR futures questions
Which NEAR order-book side matters when closing a short?
The ask side, because the closing action buys NEAR back. In the third 25,000 round, Hyperliquid had a cheaper sale than Binance but a slightly more expensive purchase after the reference taker fee. An entry-only ranking would miss that difference.
Does spending the original 10,000 USDT close a 2,000-NEAR short?
Only if that spending buys the remaining coin quantity. At a price of six, it buys roughly 1,666.7 NEAR and leaves about 333.3 short. At four, an unrestricted purchase could buy too many coins. Close by the remaining quantity with the applicable reduce-only control.
Why can Hyperliquid suit a NEAR short better than a long?
Its smaller-order execution was competitive, and its observed positive funding total was larger than several centralized alternatives. That funding is received by a short but paid by a long. Future rate changes can remove or reverse the advantage.
Why does Binance size a small NEAR order differently from Bybit?
The captured Binance contract uses whole-NEAR increments, while Bybit allows 0.1 NEAR. Both have minimum-value rules too. A nominal cash target therefore needs to be rounded into the actual coin step accepted by the chosen contract.
Is MEXC’s NEAR API maker fee zero?
The researched API schedule specifies 0.06% maker and 0.08% taker, separately from manual web or app offers. An automated NEAR strategy should not adopt a zero-maker headline without confirming that it applies to its execution channel.
Can staked NEAR fund the same futures trade as USDT?
Not automatically. Native NEAR, a staking receipt and USDT are separate collateral assets. The eligible account mode must accept the actual asset; its usable margin may be lower than its wallet value. This comparison does not establish a current OKX allowance for staked NEAR.
Sources and research
Comparisons use the public records linked below, not funded account tests. How we research · Report a correction.
Books were collected in three separately initiated rounds between 03:03:09 and 03:04:59 UTC on October 7, 2026. The 93 responses cover 31 contracts. Requests within a round were not simultaneous; these observations do not establish a daily average or stress-period execution.
Equal quote notionals of 1,000, 10,000, 25,000 and 50,000 were swept independently against asks and bids. Gate, OKX and MEXC contract quantities were normalized to coin quantities. A published full-size range requires complete returned depth on both sides in all three samples. A truncated book is not evidence that further liquidity does not exist.
Estimated cost combines midpoint price impact and the cited taker reference on both orders, before quantity rounding, funding, conversion and transfers. This is a venue-selection model, not realized trading P&L. MEXC API fees differ from manual-account promotions. Binance USDC uses the promotional column visible in its fee table; ordinary USDT uses the regular column. Stablecoins are compared at par.
Funding totals add actual events from October 4 through October 6 UTC using an unchanged reference position value. Adding that history to October 7 execution observations creates a sensitivity scenario, not a trade made over those dates. Negative totals favor longs and charge shorts; future rates can reverse.
Instrument specifications and risk bands were fetched with this research. Checked Bybit and MEXC order caps are valued at the observed midpoints. The additional directory retains its own record dates and may contain products outside the measured shortlist.
